Earlier, after Vijay Zol opted to bowl first, Ankush Bains and Herwadkar laid a solid foundation with a 162-run opening stand and set up the game in India’s favour. While Bains was bowled by Sajid Khan for 77, Zol was sent back for one by Pankaj Prakash. 29 runs later, Herwadkar returned for 101. However, Sanju Samson and Ricky Bhui capitalised on the platform built by the openers to take the team past 300 runs. With India U-19 comfortably placed on 306, Samson was removed by Prakash for 65. Bhui remained unbeaten on 54 as the Indian colts posted a mammoth target for their opponents.

The Indian bowlers then ran through the UAE U-19 line-up in 40.1 overs. Hooda got the ball rolling with the wicket of S Vijayakumar and then picked up three more. Aamir Gani took three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed two victims. Avesh Khan too chipped in with one wicket, while CV Milind was the only bowler to go wicketless for India U-19.
