India won the only T20I against South Africa by 16 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. After the hosts were propelled to 146/5 by Smriti Mandhana (52) and Mithali Raj (40), Poonam Yadav claimed 3/18 to help keep the visitors to 130/9 to finish the tour on a victorious note. Earlier, opening the innings for hosts, Raj and VR Vanitha put up a 45-run opening stand until the latter was sent back for seven by Sunette Loubser. Scoring at a quick pace, Raj was the more aggressive of the duo and followed her partner back six runs later. 18 runs later Harmanpreet Kaur too was sent back by Loubser, while Mandhana, who had come to the crease in the seventh over carried the innings forward. With Shikha Pandey she added 63 for the fourth wicket until Ayabonga Khaka struck to end the stand. The bowler claimed Pandey to leave India on 132/4 in the pen-ultimate over.
