Perth Scorchers vs  Auckland Aces Match 19 Report CLT20-2012: The Perth Scorchers drew the curtains on the Auckland Aces’ campaign in the Karbonn CLT20 2012 after they registered a 16-run win at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Needing 141 to win, the Aces lost wickets at regular intervals and could only muster 124 in their 20 overs. A win here would have meant the Aces would remain in contention for a place in the semi-finals. However, that was not to be. Despite losing Lou Vincent early in the innings, Martin Guptill and Azhar Mahmood put the innings back on track with a 49-run partnership. Both players kept finding the boundary regularly; in one particular instance, Azhar Mahmood even hit Paul Collingwood for three boundaries in an over. But left-arm spinner Michael Beer brought his team back into the contest when he snapped up both batsmen. He dismissed Guptill with a fantastic delivery; the 28-year-old threw the ball up in the air, got it to turn and bounce and tak...

Perth Scorchers vs Delhi Daredevils Match 15 Report CLT20-2012: The Delhi Daredevils made a meal of what should have been a simple run-chase in their match against the Perth Scorchers at the Newlands Stadium. Needing 122 to win and go on top of the table in Group B, the Daredevils lost four of their top order batsmen cheaply, yet got past the finish line in the final over to win by three wickets. Virender Sehwag, the only batsman who seemed to have cracked the code of batting on the difficult Newlands track, scored a half-century, while Irfan Pathan’s 14 was the second-best score of the innings. In pursuit of 122, the Delhi Daredevils lost Mahela Jayawardene, Unmukt Chand, Kevin Pietersen and Ross Taylor to single-digit scores to leave Virender Sehwag to steer the team through. The 34-year-old batted sensibly, held one end firm and went about in a manner one doesn’t normally associate with him. Until he was out in the middle, the Delhi Daredevils were definitely favouri...

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Perth Scorchers Match 9 Report - CLT20-2012 The Weather Gods had their way in the match between the Perth Scorchers and the Kolkata Knight Riders. 14 overs into the Scorchers’ innings, rains set in and forced the players back into the dressing rooms. After more than an hour, the rains did not relent and the match officials had to declare the match as a No Result. Both teams would walk away with two points. The result means, barring miracles, KKR are out of contention from making it to the semi-finals of CLT20 2012. Earlier in the evening, the Kolakta Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put the Scorchers in to bat. The IPL champions got off to a great start when Brett Lee dismissed the dangerous Herschelle Gibbs in the first over. Shaun Marsh and Simon Katich then added 70 runs over the next ten overs to put their team back on track. Marsh, who was timing the ball beautifully, would be dismissed when he missed a yorker from ...

Titans vs Perth Scorchers - M1- CLT20-2012 - Match Report: The Karbonn Champions League T20 got off to a fantastic start as the home team Titans humbled the Perth Scorchers by 39 runs in the opening match at Centurion Park. After being put in to bat, the Titans openers saw their team off to a flier; the first two scoring shots were a four and a six; and that set the tone for the rest of the innings. Jacques Rudolph and Henry Davids matched each other stroke for stroke; while they played some ruthless shots, they also used a cerebral approach to building the innings. They scored 50 runs off the first six overs when the field restrictions were in place, milked the good deliveries thereafter and made the most of the weak links in the opposition’s bowling. Both Davids and Rudolph identified Mitchell Marsh and Ben Edmondson as the ones to go after and singled them out for some special treatment. Rudolph hit Marsh for three boundaries and a six, and scored 12 runs off the...
