Naman Ojha scored a magnificent double century to put India in a dominating position in the first four-day game against Australia A. The wicketkeeper-batsman was unbeaten on 219 when India A declared their first innings on 475 for nine. The India A attack led by Jasprit Bumrah (3/42) further strengthened the visitors position. The hosts were trailing by 349 runs with four wickets in hand at the end of second day’s play. India A were 304 for six at the end of Day 1 of the first four-day match against Australia A in Brisbane. Skipper Manoj Tiwary top-scored for the visitors after electing to bat at the Allan Border Field and was ably supported by Jiwanjot Singh in salvaging the innings after losing three wickets for just 43 runs. At stumps, Dhawal Kulkarni was batting on 12 with Ojha.  Earlier, on the first day of the tour, Robin Uthappa opened the innings with Karnataka teammate Lokesh Rahul however; their partnership was cut short for 35 by Ben Cutting. India batsman Manoj Tiwary tied the knot with girlfriend Sushmita Roy in a ceremony in Howrah on Thursday. The 27-year-old, who also plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, is currently sidelined with a knee injury that is expected to keep him out of competitive cricket for nearly four months. The batsman reportedly met Sushmita about six years ago through a common friend. The duo was spotted partying during the New Year's Eve.  During last year's IPL, Tiwari smashed a six of Mumbai Indians pacer Lasith Malinga and according to the batsman, the big-hit was an answer to Sushmita, who had doubted his abilities against the maverick Sri Lankan bowler. Tiwary has played 8 ODIs for India and has a high score of 104 not out against the West Indies. He has also played three Twenty20 internationals.

Indian batsman Manoj Tiwary will once again be out of action, this time for four months, due to a knee injury. According to reports, the right-hand batsman twisted his left knee during a football drill for the Kalighat cricket club in Kolkata. His recovery period means he will be out of contention for selection to India's team for tour to Zimbabwe - starting July 24. The 27-year-old will be flying to England on June 29 to meet Dr Andrew Williams for consultation and immediate surgery. Dr Williams is a British orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist, who has also worked with Cheteshwar Pujara and many other well-known cricketers in the past. Tiwary has spent more time out of field than on field due to various inuries since December 2012. In December, he sustained a back injury during Ranji Trophy and was advised a 6-week rest. Kolkata Knight Riders lost to the Rajasthan Royals in an exciting game of cricket. With the kind of batting line-up the defending champions have, it was a game that few would have thought KKR would lose after restricting the home team to 144 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.  However, a sudden middle-order collapse after milking the first over for 14 runs changed the tone of the game as the match slipped away from the Gautam Gambhir-led side.  Left floundering on 20 for two, Manoj Tiwary and Gautam Gambhir added 20 runs before both departed in the seventh over. And although Eoin Morgan held up one end and capitalised on the life he had got early on, he kept losing partners at the other end and was unable to revive the innings. The Australian batsmen’s vulnerability against spin bowling came to the fore in a rather explicit way as they folded for 235 to India A spinners in their first innings. As a result, the Australians suffered the ignominy of being asked to follow on, before the three-day game ended in a draw. Manoj Tiwary has handled his status as Indian cricket's latest 'almost man' with dignity, and after scoring a wonderful century against the Australians for India A on Sunday (February 17) at the Guru Nanak College ground in Chennai, he reiterated that he was fine as long as the runs kept coming. "I'm very happy with my contribution. Most importantly, it's come against a touring side. Obviously compared to the quality of bowling we face in domestic cricket, it's much better and if you score runs against them, it gives you great satisfaction. After all the hard work we do, it feels good when the results come,” said Tiwary. "I was very conscious of making big runs, to convince myself that I could score runs against a quality attack."
