Sydney Sixers vs Titans 2nd Semi Final Match Report CLT20-2012: Sydney Sixers prevailed by two wickets in a last-ball thriller against the Titans to win the second semi-final of the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 2012. The Australian team will now take on the Highveld Lions in the final at the Wanderers on Sunday. While the win was a complete team effort on the part of the Sixers, Man of the Match, Steve O’Keefe stood out with his all-round performance. After returning with an economical bowling spell of 0-19 in four overs, the left-arm spinner got his team to a brisk start with the bat. He scored 32 off 21 balls with six fours during his 54-run opening stand with Michael Lumb. The Sixers were cruising along in their chase of 164 runs at 85 for 1 in 8.1 overs when O’Keefe was clean bowled by Eden Links. There were no notable partnerships thereafter and the Sixers seemed to be throwing away a game that was in their grasp. A little bit of panic set int...

Titans vs Delhi Daredevils Match 20 Report CLT20-2012: The final Group fixture of the Karbonn CLT20 2012 – between the Titans and the Delhi Daredevils – had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled because of intermittent rains. Soon after the Titans skipper Martin van Jaarsveld had won the toss and opted to field first, the skies opened up. It continued to rain until 18:45 local time, at which point the umpires decided to abandon the match. Earlier in the evening, the Perth Scorchers defeated the Auckland Aces. That result meant that this match would be restricted to being an academic engagement – the outcome not having any bearing on the semi-finals qualification. With the two points from this match, the Delhi Daredevils finish with 12 points and placed at the top of the table, while the Titans finish second in the Group A standings with 10 points. The Delhi Daredevils now take on the Highveld Lions in the first semi-final at Durban on October 25, while the Titans w...

Kolkata Knight Riders  vs  Titans   Match 16 Report CLT20-2012: A commanding performance from the Kolkata Knight Riders’ top order, followed by a flourish at the end saw the IPL champions post the highest total of the Karbonn CLT20 2012. They then bowled out the Titans for 89 to register their first win in the competition. After being put in to bat first, Manvinder Bisla set the tone for the innings with a blitzkrieg; he smashed Ethy Mbhalati for a boundary and consecutive sixes in the third over, before he found the extra cove fielder. He made 27 off 14 balls and dominated the 32-run opening partnership with Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir, who has looked woefully out of sorts in this tournament, played the passive partner when Bisla was going hammer and tongs. However, he opened up in the sixth over when he smashed Mbhalati for three boundaries – which included two strikes through cover and one through fine leg – to announce his return to form. Brendon ...

Titans vs Auckland Aces- Match 8 Report - CLT20-2012: On what was rated as the best batting surface in the Karbonn CLT20 2012 so far, the Auckland Aces could not cope with the pressure of a big run-chase and caved in meekly, thereby handing the Titans their second win in the competition. The Titans, who were asked to bat first, posted a competitive 172 for 4 in their innings and then bowled out their opponents for 113 to register a comprehensive 59-run win. On a surface that was expected to give the fast bowlers some lateral movement early on, Henry Davids and Jaques Rudolph saw the Titans off to a rollicking start; they added 74 runs in 8.3 overs. Despite the field restrictions, both batsmen successfully pierced the field on a number of occasions. Davids, who would play some powerful shots, was dismissed when he tried to run down a yorker from Azhar Mahmood but made no contact; before he lost his off stump, the 32-year-old had made 36 from 22 balls and hit five boundarie...

Titans vs Perth Scorchers - M1- CLT20-2012 - Match Report: The Karbonn Champions League T20 got off to a fantastic start as the home team Titans humbled the Perth Scorchers by 39 runs in the opening match at Centurion Park. After being put in to bat, the Titans openers saw their team off to a flier; the first two scoring shots were a four and a six; and that set the tone for the rest of the innings. Jacques Rudolph and Henry Davids matched each other stroke for stroke; while they played some ruthless shots, they also used a cerebral approach to building the innings. They scored 50 runs off the first six overs when the field restrictions were in place, milked the good deliveries thereafter and made the most of the weak links in the opposition’s bowling. Both Davids and Rudolph identified Mitchell Marsh and Ben Edmondson as the ones to go after and singled them out for some special treatment. Rudolph hit Marsh for three boundaries and a six, and scored 12 runs off the...
