ICC Women's Championship, 2nd ODI: England Women v India Women at Scarborough, Aug 23, 2014 England women pulled off a 13-run win against India women at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough. After England captain Charlotte Edwards set-up the victory for the hosts with an unbeaten 108, Jenny Gunn and company ensured that the hosts sealed a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. While Gunn claimed a four-for, the rest of the attack contributed to bowl the team to victory with eight balls to spare in the bilateral series of the ICC Women's Championship. However, England skipper Charlotte Edwards’ resistance ensured the hosts reached a competitive total in their 50 overs. England women won the rain truncated 1st ODI by 42 runs by the Duckworth/Lewis method against India women at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough. With weather having the final say, the 110-run opening stand between Charlotte Edwards and Heather Knight proved crucial as England took a 1-0 lead in the bilateral series of the ICC Women's Championship.  Having restricted India to 193 in 47 overs, England were set a revised target of 184 in 42 overs after rain interrupted the game for the second time. Edwards and Knight got England off to a flying start. It was only in the 21st over that Ekta Bisht ended the flourishing partnership. 17 runs later Rajeshwari Gayakwad sent back Knight to give a glimmer of hope for India women to get back into the game. Mithali Raj has led and batted the Indian women’s team to some memorable wins. Very few would be as special as the one she and her girls just achieved. (Also Read:  India Women's captain Mithali Raj backs young team ) Playing their first Test match after eight years, Indian eves defeated the Ashes winning England team in their own backyard by six wickets at Wormsley. The victory is special for several other reasons. One is that out of the 11 members, eight were playing their first ever Test match. Still savouring “one of the best victories” of her life, captain Mithali Raj spoke to  BCCI.TV  about how she led a bunch of inexperienced girls to an epic triumph. Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj exuded confidence of a good showing as she leads a young team on a tough tour of England. The Indian skipper said that it was a good opportunity for the youngsters to test their mettle in the longer format of the game. (Also Read:  India Women team for England tour ) Out of the 15-member team, only three – Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and vice-captain Karuna Jain - have the experience of playing a Test match. But Mithali is not worried with her side’s inexperience and believes that the young side has the ability to upset the hosts.
