In a team that boasts of Test players and former national stars, Baba Aparajith made sure he would do the star turn as Tamil Nadu began its Ranji Trophy campaign on a strong note.
With an unbeaten 109 on the first day against Services, Aparajith continued to reassert his ability to play a long innings. When he walked in at No. 4 on Sunday, Tamil Nadu was struggling at 16 for two after electing to bat.
Opener Satyam Choudhary scored an unbeaten century to help Madhya Pradesh reach 282 for three in their first innings against Railways on the opening day of a Group B Ranji Trophy match here on Sunday.
Group B 
Saurashtra vs Rajasthan: Sagar Jogiyani propelled Saurashtra to 226 for two on the first day with an unbeaten 114-run knock after Jaydev Shah elected to bat on the home ground. Shitanshu Kotak made 65 as the duo put together a 136-run opening stand until he was removed by Aristh Singhvi. The bowler also dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara for 21.
Tamil Nadu vs SSCB: TN’s middle-order bat Baba Aparajith slammed an unbeaten century to take his team to 220 for three against Services. The youngster who has been in sublime form was not-out on 109 with Dinesh Karthik on 11 when play ended.
MPCA vs Railways: Put in to bat by Railways, MPCA opener Satyam Choudhary took his team to 282 for three with an unbeaten 127-run knock. He was ably supported by middle-order bat Mohnish Mishra who was sent back three runs short of his ton by KV Sharma.
Bengal vs Baroda: Due to wet pitch and unfavourable ground conditions, the match was called off at 10.30 a.m.
