India Under-19 vs Papua New Guinea Under-19 Tri-Nation Tournament 2013
India Under-19 beat Papua New Guinea Under-19 by 71 runs at the Tracy Village Oval in their first match of the Australia Under-19s Tri-Nation Tournament in Darwin. Although their batsmen struggled to post an imposing target for the opposition, the Indian bowlers skittled out PNG for a paltry 65 to register a win.
Put in to bat, the Vijay Zol-led Indian colts were bowled out for 136 in 43.1 overs. The skipper, opening the innings for India, scored 48 off 46 balls. However, the rest of the line-up faltered. Struggling to build partnerships, they failed to bat their full quota of overs. Sakavai Gebai claimed four Indian batters, while Alei Nao and Riley Hekure picked two wickets each.
Defending the total, the Indian bowlers ran through the PNG U19 line-up. While Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, Abhimanyu Lamba, Atul Singh and Aamir Gani picked two apiece to bowl the opposition out in 36.5 overs. Coming in at No.8, Tom Willie was the only PNG batsman to reach double digits in the innings.
