KKR today announced some changes to its support staff for the upcoming IPL 2013 season.

1.     Wasim Akram, who has been the bowling coach and mentor will not be available for the upcoming season as he wishes to spend more time with his family.

2.     Trevor Penney has been appointed as the fielding coach and will join the support staff under head coach Trevor Bayliss.

3.     Joy Bhattacharjya who has been the team director takes on a different role as – “Advisor - content development and management” with KKR.

4.     All team related matters will be handled by Mathew Joy (mathewjoy@kkr.in)

Commenting on these changes, Venky Mysore, the CEO of KKR said, “ Wasim Akram will be badly missed. He is a legend and a great motivator to have around the team. However, we fully appreciate the reasons why he will be unavailable. We hope this break will give him the much needed time to be with his family. We hope to work with him in the future.

We are also delighted that Trevor Penney will join the excellent support staff of KKR comprising of head coach Trevor Bayliss, assistant coach Vijay Dahiya, Physio Andrew Leipus, strength trainer Adrian Le Roux and analyst AR Srikkanth. Trevor Penney is a fine professional and will no doubt add to the depth of the team.

Joy is taking on a very important initiative for KKR. We wish him the very best.”
