Women's World Cup 2013, India v Sri Lanka, Mumbai: Report Sri Lanka claimed a berth in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2013 with a comprehensive 138-run victory over India at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday. Outplayed by the Shashikala Siriwardene-led team, India’s first ever loss to Sri Lanka in the ODIs has marked the end of their World Cup campaign. In a high scoring game at the Brabourne Stadium, England beat India by 32 runs to open their account in the 2013 ICC Women’s World Cup. After the England skipper Charlotte Edwards set up the match with a century, Harmanpreet Kaur took the fight to the opposition with a determined ton as well. Although she was facing an uphill task, the Indian vice-captain rallied on even as the England bowlers maintained a tight grip on the Indian innings and struck at regular intervals. Chasing 273, India were left reeling at 29 for three by Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole. Spearheading the England bowling attack, Brunt claimed the key wickets of M Thirush Kamini and captain Mithali Raj, while Shrubsole followed up with the wicket of Poonam Raut to send India on the back foot.  With the top three back in the hut, Kaur and Karuna Jain revived the Indian innings. Women's World Cup 2013: India v WI, Mumbai - Report: India rode on opener Thirush Kamini Murugesan's maiden century to thrash West Indies by 105 runs in their opening Group A match of the ICC Women's World Cup in Mumbai on Thursday. Kamini scored 100 off 146 balls to become the first Indian eve to notch up a century in 50-over World Cup as the hosts piled up a commendable 284 for six after being sent into bat. Defending the total, Nagarajan Niranjana (3/52), Jhulan Goswami (2/13) and left-arm spinner Gouher Sultana (2/38) starred with the ball to help India bundle out the Caribbean side for 179 runs with 5.3 overs to spare.
