Manoj Tiwary knee injury, out of action for 4 months

Indian batsman Manoj Tiwary will once again be out of action, this time for four months, due to a knee injury. According to reports, the right-hand batsman twisted his left knee during a football drill for the Kalighat cricket club in Kolkata. His recovery period means he will be out of contention for selection to India's team for tour to Zimbabwe - starting July 24. The 27-year-old will be flying to England on June 29 to meet Dr Andrew Williams for consultation and immediate surgery. Dr Williams is a British orthopaedic surgeon and knee specialist, who has also worked with Cheteshwar Pujara and many other well-known cricketers in the past. Tiwary has spent more time out of field than on field due to various inuries since December 2012. In December, he sustained a back injury during Ranji Trophy and was advised a 6-week rest. Kerala in knockout stage: Inter State One-Day League 2012/13

Kerala registered a thumping six-wicket win over hosts Goa to enter the knockout stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy inter-state one-day cricket championship as South Zone runners-up on Wednesday. This is the first time since the tournament’s inception that a Kerala team has qualified for the knockout phase. In the last round match played at Porvorim, Goa, after electing to bat first, found themselves cornered from the very start as they lost four early wickets. Medium pacer Sandeep Warrier claimed the first scalp of the Goan team as Asnodkar was caught behind by wicketkeeper Sanju Viswanath when the score was just 23. Goan skipper Sagun Kamat (71) stood firm amid the ruins but he was caught by Prasanth off Jagadeesh’s bowling to leave Goa precariously placed at 161 for 7.
