Report: Warm-up 2: Cricket Australia XI vs Indians - Day 1

The Indian bowlers had a perfect day on the field on the first day of the second warm-up match at the Gliderol Oval in Adelaide, against Cricket Australia XI. After the bowlers dismissed the hosts for 243 in 68.3 overs, the batsmen played off 29 overs on a day that comprised 100 instead of 90 overs. At stumps, Murali Vijay (39*)and Virat Kohli (30*) held fort for the Indians. Shikhar Dhawan departed for a golden duck, in the second over of the innings, lobbing a leg-side half volley to the man at forward square leg, off Josh Lalor. Cheteshwar Pujara looked compact in the middle for a while but soon he nicked one to slip where Ashton Turner clinched a stunner. The Indians finished Day one of the first warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI on 55 for 1, trailing by 164 runs. After the bowlers, led by Varun Aaron (17-1-72-3), dismissed the hosts for 219 runs, the Indians lost Shikhar Dhawan (10 off 20 balls) early. Murali Vijay smashed four fours in his unbeaten 32 off 50 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara accompanied him at the other end with 13 to his name inclusive of three fours. On the sunny but windy morning at the Gliderol Stadium in Adelaide, CA XI captain, Ashton Turner, won the toss and elected to bat first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck an early blow by scalping Matthew Short caught behind for a duck. After a brief partnership for the third wicket, Aaron struck twice in the 21st over. England reached 113 for three at stumps on the first day of the fourth cricket Test after Stuart Broad's six-wicket haul had India shot out for 152 here today. Among England batsmen, Ian Bell remained unbeaten on 45 while Gary Ballance scored 37. Varun Aaron took two for 26 while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the other wicket. Mushfiqur Rahim’s 117 is the highest score for Bangladesh against India, obliterating Alok Kapali’s 115 at Karachi in 2008. Mushfiqur’s innings is also his personal best in ODIs, surpassing the 101 he made against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2001.
