Kapil Dev wants cricket administrators to be ruthless in dealing with cricketers who take the easy way out to get rich. In an interview to a leading daily, the former India skipper said too much money in the game was proving to be a deterrent and cricketers were prone to "making mistakes". Rajasthan Royals spinner Harmeet Singh has been suspended by the BCCI, pending an enquiry into his role in the spot-fixing scandal in this year's IPL. This comes a day after he had recorded his statement in a Delhi Court in which he had spoken about the role of Ajit Chandila and other bookies in approaching players for spot-fixing. He will be questioned by Ravi Sawani, head of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU), in the BCCI headquarters today. "We have issued a show-cause notice and asked Harmeet to depose in front of Sawani on Saturday. Like Trivedi, he too was approached by bookies but he didn't inform either the ACSU officer or the board about it," a top BCCI official was reported as saying by the Indian Express. Released on bail after spending 27 days in jail, cricketer Ankeet Chavan, who was arrested for alleged involvement in the IPL spot-fixing scandal, on Wednesday hoped he would not be denied justice by the judiciary. "I am just hoping for the judiciary to make the right decision," Chavan said. Rajasthan Royals cricketers Chavan and S Sreesanth were on Tuesday released from Tihar jail along with 17 other accused. All of them were granted bail by a Delhi court. The court had also censured Delhi police for slapping MCOCA on the cricketers and other accused. The 27-year-old Chavan, an off-spinner, was naturally relieved to have walked out of jail. "I am thankful to the judiciary. I am happy and thankful to my family and all my friends who stood by me in tough times," he said. India fast bowler S.Sreesanth, who was released from Tihar jail Tuesday on bail, said the last 27 days have taught him a lot and retiterated that he was innocent. "I am very happy. I should thank my lawyer. It was a testing phase for me, the last 27 days. I believe in the Indian judiciary and I am sure my innocence will be proved," Sreesanth told reporters in a press conference here after coming out of jail. "I played the game in the right spirit. I'll abide by the process of law. I won't forget the days spent in jail. The last 27 days have taught me a lot. I can say I totally believe in Indian judiciary. With the raging IPL spot-fixing scandal denting the credibility of cricket, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Saturday said that every effort should be made to clean up the game and adequate steps should be taken in this regard. "I am a small person. Bigwigs are busy cleaning the mess. Captain of the Indian Women's cricket team Mithali Raj tells us how her team steers clear of such controversies. “I don’t know why anyone would do that (fixing). Kerala pacer S. Sreesanth and two other players of the Rajasthan Royals Indian Premier League team have been arrested by the Delhi Police and charged with spot-fixing in the on-going tournament.  Sreesanth and the others, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, were arrested in a secret swoop at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai, where they were staying, and will be brought to Delhi to be produced in court.   The police have also arrested seven bookies. Police sources said the players have been accused of spot-fixing in different matches this week. They also said that the arrests were part of an investigation conducted over months by the special cell of the Delhi Police into alleged spot-fixing in the cash-rich IPL tournament, the sixth edition of which is being played now.
