A swashbuckling century from opener Neil Broom powered the Otago Volts to a commanding 62-run victory over the Perth Scorchers in Match 8 of the Karbonn Smart CLT20 2013. On a smashing pitch at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Volts, powered by Broom’s unbeaten 117 posted 242 – the highest total in the Champions League T20 – and then restricted their opponents to 180. In the final league match of the Karbonn Smart CLT20 2013 Qualifiers, the Otago Volts handed favourites Sunrisers Hyderabad a five-wicket defeat at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. After putting the Sunrisers in to bat, the Volts did well to restrict them to 143 and then chased down the runs in 16.2 overs. The result means the Volts went unbeaten in the Qualifiers and finish at the top of the table, while the Sunrisers were placed second. Despite being faced with a not too challenging target, the Volts came out aggressive.
