CLT20 Best: 2011 Champions
Mumbai Indians is an IPL franchise owned by IndiaWin Sports Pvt. Ltd, which is a group company of Reliance Industries Ltd. A team with one of the strongest fan bases – mostly due to the presence of Sachin Tendulkar – MI finished as runners-up in IPL 2010, before bagging the CLT20 title the next year. After Tendulkar stepped down as captain, it was Harbhajan Singh who led the team to CLT20 glory. A new core management group, including the likes of John Wright (coach), Anil Kumble (team mentor) and Ricky Ponting inspired MI to the much awaited IPL title in 2013. The season also saw the emergence of Rohit Sharma – who stepped up to the leadership role when Ponting decided to drop himself from the playing XI – as captain.
