Even as inclement weather stalled play at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, the SL colts added 211 runs to their overnight score, courtesy Kavindu Kulasekara’s patient knock. The No.3 bat, who was unbeaten on five at the end of second day’s play, anchored the innings on Thursday to remain unbeaten on 76; he had faced 264 balls by the time play ended. After opener Hashan Dumindu was the first wicket to fall today for 42, Kulasekara was ably supported Minod Bhanuka, who made 56. Bhanuka’s stay at the crease was eventually ended by Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed all the four SL wickets that fell on the third day.
When play was called off, SL U19 were 235 for five, with Kulasekara and Ramesh Mendis at the crease.
