Virat Kohli's 107 is his second highest score against Australia, next only to the 116 at Adelaide in January 2012.  He has registered hundreds against Australia in successive Tests.

Kohli has recorded back to back hundreds for the first time in Tests - 103 against England at Nagpur in December 2012 and 107 against Australia at Chennai on Sunday.

Kohli has posted two hundreds against Australia and one each against England and New Zealand.

Kohli has missed his 1,000 runs by two runs - 998 at an average of 41.58 in 15 Tests.

Kohli and Dhoni were associated in a partnership of 128 - India's second highest for the fifth wicket against Australia at Chepauk.

India's highest partnership against Australia for any wicket at this venue is 169 for the fifth wicket between Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar in March 2001.  The said stand is India's highest fifth-wicket partnership at this venue.

Kohli has shared five century partnerships in Tests - three with Dhoni and one each with Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha - his highest being 198 for the fifth wicket with Dhoni against England at Nagpur in December 2012.

Dhoni and Kohli's run-rate of 4.89  (128 off 157 balls) is India's highest for the fifth wicket partnership against Australia, surpassing the 4.29 between Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman during their stand of 146 at Brisbane in December 2003 (minimum 100).
