INDIA v ENGLAND 3rd ODI ᴴᴰ FULL HIGHLIGHTS, Ranchi, Jan 19, 2013

On a day that marked a perfect homecoming for skipper MS Dhoni and an ideal beginning for a brand new stadium at Ranchi, Virat Kohli managed to make quite a few heads turn too. The 24-year-old bounced back to form with a match-winning 77-run innings. In the process, he surpassed the 4,000-run mark in ODIs.

Thanks to his batting exploits, the right-hander was also adjudged Man of the Match – his 13th such award and second against England. Here are these and many more stats highlights from a very special match, both for Team India and the city of Ranchi:

Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi became India’s 42nd and world’s 82nd ODI ground. India has the most number of ODI grounds.

Brief Scores: India 157/3 (Virat Kohli 77; James Tredwell 2/29) beat England 155 all-out (Joe Root 39; Ravindra Jadeja 3/19) by 7 wickets with 131 balls to spare.
Man of the Match: Virat Kohli for his match-winning knock of 77 runs off 79 balls with nine 4s and two 6s.
Virat Kohli is the Man of the Match. Kohli: "I was batting well for a while, getting out in different ways, got a few good balls, made a few mistakes. Today I just reacted to the way the ball was thrown at me. I did not have to pre-plan which I was doing in the previous games. I was relying on my reflexes. It was a difficult wicket, Finn gets the ball to seam on any wicket. Crowd support was brilliant."

Dhoni: "Bowlers did the job for us. It was important to take wickets with the new ball. 150-odd was not enough to defend for the English side. Gautam batted well with Virat, that was important as the ball was doing something. Most of the bowlers are new. Bhuvi and Shami have just got into the side. They will get a lot of confidence out of this. [When asked if he was nervous as he walked out to bat] Not really, I have played a lot of cricket here. Yuvi got out, so I got an opportunity to bat, at one stage it did not look if I would get to bat. I cannot say it was good that I got to bat, they will beat me in the dressing room. It is one of the best facilities. Execution is very important. Response from the people has been amazing. Everything went off well, we won the game, it was a perfect script."

Cook: "150 was nowhere near enough on that wicket. Credit to India. Not really going to defend that, unless it is a freak day. We did not get out to attacking shots, got out to defensive shots. It is frustrating, We have the potential, but we are not clicking at the moment. The ball skid on slightly better in the second innings, we knew that would happen."
