Pujara-206-1st-Test-vs-England-2012
Here are some statistical highlights that came on the concluding afternoon:

# Cheteshwar Pujara was deservingly named the Man of the Match for the first time in Tests.  His double hundred (206 not out) is the second by an Indian batsman after Vinod Kambli (224 in the 1992-93 Mumbai Test) in a winning cause against England.

# Pujara's total runs tally of 247 without being dismissed is the highest aggregate by an Indian batsman in a winning cause against England, surpassing Vinod Kambli's 224 in the 1992-93 Mumbai Test.  His tally is the best by any player in a winning cause in a Test match at Motera.

# Matt Prior's brilliant 91 off 225 balls is the second highest by an England wicketkeeper in a Test match in India, next only to the 92 by Dick Spooner in the 1951-52 Kolkata Test.

# India have won 20, lost 10 and drawn 10 out of 40 played under Dhoni's leadership - success % 50.00.  Only Sourav Ganguly (21) has posted more Test victories for India than Dhoni.

# India's splendid victory by nine wickets is their 20th in 104 Tests against England (lost 38 and drawn 46) - winning % 19.23.

# India have now won 20 Tests each against England and Australia.

# Alastair Cook (176 off 374 balls) has posted his fourth highest score in Test cricket.

# Cook's marvellous knock is the highest individual innings by an England player after following on, surpassing Ken Barrington's 172 in the 1961-62 Kanpur Test against India.  His innings is the second highest by a captain after following on behind Salim Malik's 237 for Pakistan against Australia at Rawalpindi in 1994-95.

# Cook was at the crease for 556 minutes for his 176 - the second longest in terms of minutes by an England player in India, next only to the 563 by Graeme Fowler for scoring 201 in the 1984-85 Chennai Test.  Cook's knock is the sixth longest in terms of minutes by a visiting player on Indian soil.

# Apart from Cook, no other visiting player has batted for such a long period in the second innings of a Test.  Andy Flower had batted for 544 minutes for his marvellous 232 not out in the 2000-01 Nagpur Test.

# Pragyan Ojha (9/165) has recorded his best bowling figures in a Test match.

# Ojha has delivered 77.2 overs in the Ahmedabad Test - the most in a match by him, eclipsing his tally of 75 overs in the 2011-12 Mumbai Test against the West Indies.  He bowled 55 overs in the second innings - the most in an innings by him.

# England (406) have recorded their third total of 400 or more in an innings after following on against India - their best is 497 for five in the 1961-62 Kanpur Test.

# Cook and Prior were involved in a stand of 157 - England's second highest for the sixth wicket in India, next only to the 171 between Ian Botham and Bob Taylor in the 1979-80 Mumbai Test.
