DD-vs-LIO-CLT20-12

1.75 Chris Morris’ economy (4-0-7-2) is the best for any bowler in the main CLT20 matches (excluding Qualifiers). Wayamba’s Rangana Herath had also returned identical figures against Central Districts at Port Elizabeth in 2010.

3 Number of fifties scored by Gulam Bodi in this edition of CLT20 – first batsman to do so.

3 Number of batsmen, who were dismissed caught and bowled in Delhi Daredevils innings – David Warner, Ross Taylor and Naman Ojha. Never before in CLT20 history more than one batsman was out caught and bowled in a team innings.

4 Number of times the Delhi Daredevils have reached the knock-out stage in IPL/CLT20. However they have never won any event yet! Here’s a brief account of how DD have fared in various knock-out games: In 2008 they lost to the Rajasthan Royals by 106 runs, in 2009 they lost to the Deccan Chargers by 6 wickets, in 2011 they lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs and 86 runs respectively, and now, they lost to the Lions by 22 runs.

7 Number of Delhi Daredevils batsmen, whose strike-rate was 50 or less. There has been only one worse performance than this in CLT20 history. 8 Wayamba batsmen had a strike-rate of sub-50 against Victoria in the 2010 edition.

42.74 of Delhi Daredevils’ runs came off Kevin Pietersen’s bat alone. This was the seventh instance in CLT20 history of a batsman scoring 40 percent or more runs in a team’s total where all 11 batsmen batted.

Brief Scores: Lions 139-5 in 20 overs (Bodi 50, McKenzie 46; Yadav 2-20) beat Delhi Daredevils 117-9 in 20 overs (Pietersen 50; Morris 7-2, Phangiso 18-2)

Highveld Lions win by 22 runs

  • Petersen: "I thought 139 was a good total on this wicket. I thought the bowling was outstanding today and Morris really came to the party, he bowled in the right areas and we are delighted with his performance. Gulam & Neil were superb with the bat and I thought we did really well on this slow wicket. Playing the final at the Wanderers is massive for us and come Sunday we will be up for it once more."
  • Taylor: "We let ourselves down in the field and we probably gave away 20 runs. We felt 140 was very getable but they bowled very well and the run rate kept going up. We didn't get much momentum going in this campaign but they were the better team on the night and congratulations to them."
