The Mumbai Indians know what it feels like to be IPL champions. Having clinched the coveted title in 2013 and after failing to defend the title the following year, Mumbai Indians are keen to make a telling statement as they gear up for a fresh start in 2015. The team went full throttle in their practice session at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the eve of their first game against the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Lasith Malinga to play for Mumbai Indian in Champions League T20 – 2014

Sri Lanka Cricket Media Release Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform that Lasith Malinga had sent a letter on the 15th of July 2014, wherein he had requested to represent the Mumbai Indian in the Champions League T20 – 2014, The request letter was tabled at the Exco meeting held on the 22 July. As per the Team Participation Agreement of CLT20 – 2014, the decision on which team a player should represent is the sole prerogative of the player himself. Accordingly whilst expressing Sri Lanka Cricket’s preference for Lasith to represent the Southern Express Team at the said event, the Executive Committee left this decision at his sole discretion.
