Mumbai, Oct 31: Powered by skipper Alastair Cook’s unbeaten century, England XI were trailing by 83 runs at stumps in their three-day match against India A.   In reply to the Suresh Raina-led India A’s first innings score of 369, the visitors posted 286 for the loss of four wickets at the end of Day 2 at the Brabourne Stadium.  Leading from the front, Cook anchored the innings with 112 not out. Although they lost opener Nick Compton for naught in the second over, Jonathon Trott who then joined the captain in the middle scored a half-century before being castled by Raina.  The duo stitched in 95-run partnership before Trott departed for 56. A while later, Kevin Pietersen, who had replaced him at the crease, scooped the ball back to Yuvraj Singh to return to the pavilion after contributing 23.  In his next over, the left-arm spinner claimed the key wicket of Ian Bell to leave the opposition on 133 for the loss of four. Timely half-centuries from Manoj Tiwary, Abhinav Mukund and Yuvraj Singh helped India A end Day 1 of their three-day match against England XI at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Earlier in the day, India A skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and chose to take first strike. While Murali Vijay (7) was run-out with the score on 25, the other opener, Abhinav Mukund scored a well-compiled 73 (off 83 balls) even as Ajinkya Rahane (4) was dismissed by Tim Bresnan a while later. Vijay put together a quick 56-run stand with Yuvraj Singh, before he was finally dismissed by Graeme Swann. Yuvraj, however, continued to score freely as he brought up his half-century. The southpaw made 59 off 80 balls, which included seven fours and four big hits. He was stumped by Matt Prior off the bowling of Swann. Highveld Lions vs Sydney Sixers Final Match Report CLT20-2012: On a fabulous evening in Johannesburg, the Sydney Sixers were crowned the new CLT20 champions. In the title clash at the New Wanderers Stadium, the Sixers defeated the Highveld Lions to take home the magnificent CLT20 trophy and the winner’s cheque of USD 2,500,000. Sydney Sixers vs Titans 2nd Semi Final Match Report CLT20-2012: Sydney Sixers prevailed by two wickets in a last-ball thriller against the Titans to win the second semi-final of the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 2012. The Australian team will now take on the Highveld Lions in the final at the Wanderers on Sunday. While the win was a complete team effort on the part of the Sixers, Man of the Match, Steve O’Keefe stood out with his all-round performance. After returning with an economical bowling spell of 0-19 in four overs, the left-arm spinner got his team to a brisk start with the bat. Delhi Daredevils vs Highveld Lions Semi Final 1 Report CLT20-2012: The Delhi Daredevils bowed out of the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 after losing to Highveld Lions by 22 runs in the first semi-final at Kingsmead.  The Virender Sehwag-David Warner (21) opening pair got separated on just the third ball of the innings, as the Indian opener slogged himself out for a golden duck. The Australian left-hander combined with Kevin Pietersen for 35 runs, before top-edging Chris Morris and presenting him with a return catch. The Lions tightened the noose after dismissing both DD openers and gave away only 13 runs from the sixth to ninth overs. The pressure kept mounting and Unmukt Chand succumbed to it. Titans vs Delhi Daredevils Match 20 Report CLT20-2012: The final Group fixture of the Karbonn CLT20 2012 – between the Titans and the Delhi Daredevils – had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled because of intermittent rains. Soon after the Titans skipper Martin van Jaarsveld had won the toss and opted to field first, the skies opened up. It continued to rain until 18:45 local time, at which point the umpires decided to abandon the match. Earlier in the evening, the Perth Scorchers defeated the Auckland Aces. That result meant that this match would be restricted to being an academic engagement – the outcome not having any bearing on the semi-finals qualification.
