Brisbane, Feb 21: India need to win their two remaining matches to be in with a chance for a spot in the CB series finals. Analysing their loss to Sri Lanka, stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag reiterated that the batting line-up needed to fulfill the promise while standing by the rotation policy. Excerpts from Sehwag’s post-match press conference: On losing the match I think we didn’t play well, batting, bowling, fielding–whatever. We gave too many runs in the last seven or eight overs so that cost us and again the top-order didn’t fire. BCCI Technical Committee Changes Domestic Cricket Rules

The Technical Committee and Senior Tournament Committee of the BCCI met at the Cricket Center earlier today. The Technical Committee made the following recommendations: ·          The number of short-pitched deliveries permitted per over in domestic one-day tournaments to be increased from one to two. This will come into force in the inter-state one-day matches, starting 20 February 2012. ·          The Ranji Trophy quarter-finals and semi-finals will be five-day games. ·          The Ranji Trophy points system shall be as follows: Outright win                                                                                       5 pts First innings lead but no outright win                                                 3 pts Loss on first innings                                                                          1 pt Washout / weather interference with no first innings result               1 pt each Innings win / win by ten wickets                                

India vs Sri Lanka 2012 : Highlights of the Tied Match

India's ODI match against Sri Lanka ended in a unique draw on Tuesday. This is the first time in a tied ODI match that both teams have scored same number of runs, lost same number of wickets and faced same number of over’s. Gautam Gambhir (91 off 106 balls), for the first time in consecutive innings in Australia, has recorded 90-plus - 92 against Australia and 91 against Sri Lanka - both at Adelaide Oval.  Gambhir's batting stats in ODI in Australia are superb - 628 runs at an average of 57.09, including two hundreds and three fifties.  Gambhir's aforesaid innings is his 30th fifty in ODIs - his fifth against Sri Lanka.  Gambhir is the leading run-getter in the 2011-12 Commonwealth Bank series, aggregating 188 runs at an average of 62.66 in three games. IPL AUCTION 2012 Sold List

The IPL Player Auction 2012, held in Bengaluru ahead of the tournament’s fifth season, was marked by a whopping USD 2 million dollar bid for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made by two franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers. The player was sold to the Chennai franchise on the basis of tie-breaker involving a silent bid. Medium pacer Vinay Kumar was the other big purchase at the auction conducted by auctioneer Richard Madley. The Karnataka bowler was picked up by home franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for USD 1 million. Each of the franchises had a purse of USD 2 million to shop with. The franchises can use the remaining purse only to buy uncapped players during the trading window which opens on February 6.
