Indian Cricket Team Updates

The 2015 season of the Pepsi IPL will commence on Wednesday, 8 April 2015, and conclude on Sunday, 24 May, 2015. The first Trading Window for the tournament opened on Monday, 6 October 2014. Two players have been traded so far. Mumbai Indians have acquired Unmukt Chand from Rajasthan Royals and R. Vinay Kumar from Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.  Mumbai Indians have also released Michael Hussey and Praveen Kumar (Pepsi IPL 2014 Replacement Player), both of whom may enter the Pepsi IPL 2015 Player Auction. The first Trading Window will close on Friday, 12 December 2014. The IPL Governing Council has also decided the windows for the 2016 and 2017 seasons of the tournament. The Pepsi IPL 2016 will be played in the window between Friday, 8 April 2016 and Sunday, 29 May 2016. The Sri Lankans suffered a heavy thrashing in the hands of India A in their warm-up match at the Brabourne Stadium as they went down by 88 runs. Chasing India A’s 381, built on the back of centuries from Rohit Sharma and Manish Pandey, the Lankans finished with 294 for 9 in their 50 overs. The Sri Lankan innings never really took off. After Dhawal Kulkarni got rid of Kusal Perera in the ninth over, the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals. Karn Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief of the Lankan innings, as he removed four of the best opposition batsmen in Upul Tharanga (76), Tillakaratne Dishan (14), Mahela Jayawardena (33) and Angelo Mathews (3). While Unmukt Chand and Karun Nair were the players who caught Tharanga and Mathews respectively, Dilshan was trapped lbw and Jayawardene was castled. India A won the second practice game by 16 runs against the touring West Indies side at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.  ( Also Read:  Report: India A vs West Indies, warm-up match 1 ) Electing to bat first, India A were lifted to 282 courtesy the 149-run stand for third-wicket between Unmukt Chand (101) and Karun Nair (64) in the day/night game. After the departure of Nair the scoring rate dipped and India A lost wickets at regular intervals resulting in the hosts getting bowled out with 11 balls remaining in their quota of 50 overs.  Chasing the total, the West Indies were kept in the fray by the Denesh Ramdin-Darren Sammy pair after losing their top four wickets for 65 runs. Ambati Rayudu guided West Zone to a five-wicket win over North Zone with a 78 not-out in the Prof D B Deodhar Trophy final at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. After captain Parthiv Patel and Manprit Juneja struck half-centuries to lay the platform for their team, Rayudu took his side across the line and was brilliantly supported by Kedar Jadhav’s quick-fire fifty. While chasing the 290-run target, West Zone lost opener Vijay Zol with just 24 runs on the board. Half-centuries by senior pro Yuvraj Singh and the talented Unmukt Chand helped North Zone cruise to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Central Zone in Guwahati on Monday to enter the Deodhar Trophy final. North will meet the winner of the second semi-final between South Zone and West Zone scheduled to be played on Tuesday. North Zone captain Gautam Gambhir opted to field and his bowlers responded well by bundling out Central for a paltry 190 in 41.5 overs in match that was first curtailed to 45-overs-per side. Due to inclement weather, North's target was revised to 160 in 33 overs and the winners got their with 19 balls to spare. With a glorious unbeaten century, skipper Unmukt Chand led India to a six-wicket win over defending champions Australia to lift the ICC Under-19 World Cup. In a chase of 226, Chand, who opened the innings for India, struck 111 (7x4, 6x6) off 130 balls. His 130-run unbroken partnership with Smit Patel (62*) took India over the finish line at the Tony Ireland Stadium.
