With a comprehensive 109-run win over Bangladesh in the quarter-final clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground India advanced into the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015. Rohit Sharma, who had been in patchy form on the tour, lifted India to a formidable total in the all-important knock-out game against Bangladesh. The stylish opener, who last scored a century (138 vs Australia) at the same venue, chose the big occasion to come good again. Unbeaten in the tournament, with six wins in as many games, India start as firm favorites against Bangladesh, who will be playing the knockouts of a World Cup for the first time. India galloped into the quarter-finals with a six-wicket win over Zimbabwe in their last game of the league phase of the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015. Left struggling on 92 for four, Suresh Raina (110*) and MS Dhoni (85*) scripted India's reply with well crafted unbroken 196-run partnership to chase down the 288-run target. Defending champions, India kicked-off their ICC World Cup 2015 campaign with a 76-run win over arch rivals Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval. Virat Kohli’s (107) century stands with Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina helped India to 300 despite a collapse in the death overs after opting to bat. Back at No 3, Virat was involved in 129 and 110-run stands with Dhawan and Raina respectively to set the stage for a formidable total on a batting friendly track. For the first half hour at the Adelaide Oval a few  Afghanistan  supporters who had made it to the ground to support their team cleared their throats and waved their flag high.
