Shane Watson to lead Rajasthan Royals - IPL 2014

Image
Rajasthan Royals today announced Shane Watson as the captain for the upcoming Pepsi Indian Premier League 2014. Shane Watson has been with the Royals since the inaugural season in 2008 and contributed to the team at all levels. Rahul Dravid, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2013, will be involved in all aspects of cricket strategy - mentoring the team and guide youth and talent development initiatives for the franchise.  Watson's strong performances helped Rajasthan Royals win the inaugural IPL in 2008, while playing under the inspiring leadership of Shane Warne. The young Australian displayed his all-round skills and match-winning performances in crucial ties, and eventually was adjudged the Player-of-the-Tournament. The Queensland-based all-rounder continued to play an integral part of the franchise in subsequent editions, and in 2012, he played under another legendary player and former India skipper Rahul Dravid. In Pepsi IPL 2013, Watson scored his first century...

Earlier, their bowlers had done an excellent job to put the visitors under pressure by claiming quick wickets and restricting them to 139. Brought back into the side, Rahul Shukla claimed three in a first-over maiden wicket to tip the balance in RR’s favour. Stuart Binny: Hope To Continue Aggressively Against Otago Volts

Image
All-round abilities are always a plus in the world of cricket. And while playing in the shorter formats of the game, these skills become premium commodities because of the varied options they provide a team. Preview: Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians, Match 1 - CLT20-2013

Image
What The inaugural fixture of the main draw of the Karbonn Smart CLT20 2013 will feature IPL 2013 winners Mumbai Indians and hosts Rajasthan Royals. The Mumbai Indians are in pursuit of a third Twenty20 title following their CLT20 trophy in 2011 and IPL gold earlier this year. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals have been starved of silverware since winning the IPL title in the inaugural season back in 2008. The Mumbai Indians definitely start as favourites – not in the least because of being defending IPL champions, but because they have several match-winners in their ranks. Having said that, defeating Rajasthan Royals at home – a place they call their “fortress” – will not be that easy. The USP of the Rajasthan Royals has been their ability to get the best out of all their players; Shane Warne skippered an underrated team to the IPL title in 2008, and Rahul Dravid has done more the same with his team over the last couple of years. When Saturday, September 21, 2013...
