Image
With a four-wicket win over West Indies at the Western Australia Cricket Association Ground in Perth, India strengthened their position at the top of the Group B table in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. ( Also Read:  Dhoni wants Jadeja to be more responsible with the bat ) Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav generated a lot of pace while the West Indies batsmen added to the agony by playing some poor shots and getting bundled out for 182. The three-pronged pace attack used the bounce to their advantage and complemented by the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, they had the opposition tottering on 85 for 7 in the 25th over. However, Jason Holder (57 off 64) put up some resistance to give his side something to bowl at. Chasing 183, India lost wickets at regular intervals, but coming in to bat at 78 for 4, MS Dhoni (45*) patiently overhauled the target.  Earlier, after WI opted to bat Shami and Yadav, complemented by good fielding had the West Indies totterin...

Mohammed Shami, Duncan Fletcher to miss UAE game - ICC World Cup 2015

Image
Team India will be without the services of head coach Duncan Fletcher since he has left for Cape Town to attend the funeral of his father-in-law. Fletcher will miss India’s next match, against the UAE, and is expected to rejoin the team in Perth on Monday ahead of their match against West Indies.  India opener Shikhar Dhawan, during the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against UAE, said that the team would miss his presence but that it won’t hamper their preparations for Saturday’s match.  Also, Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the UAE game due to a mild left knee problem. Shami and team physio Nitin Patel visited the local hospital on Thursday night and had an ultrasound guided injection for his recovery.  The Indian team will remain in Perth until their second game at the WACA, against West Indies. source: bcci.tv

Report & Highlights: India vs Pakistan – ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Image
Defending champions, India kicked-off their ICC World Cup 2015 campaign with a 76-run win over arch rivals Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval. Virat Kohli’s (107) century stands with Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina helped India to 300 despite a collapse in the death overs after opting to bat. Back at No 3, Virat was involved in 129 and 110-run stands with Dhawan and Raina respectively to set the stage for a formidable total on a batting friendly track. The Mohammed Shami-led attack then kept the opposition in check. Complemented by excellent fielding, they kept up the pressure even as Misbah-ul-Haq (76) put up a lone fight. Striking at crucial junctures they kept partnerships from building and bowled Pakistan out for 224.   Earlier, with Mohammed Irfan and Sohail Khan hurling at the batsman, Rohit Sharma and Dhawan had put together 34 runs until the former was sent back. Rohit top-edged Sohail Khan and Misbah took the catch running in from mid-off.   With Kohli, Dhawan th...

Steven Smith marched Australia to a commanding position with an authoritative 192-run knock. While he had watchfully built the innings to steer Australia to a comfortable position yesterday, Smith changed gears on the second day and plundered the Indian bowling attack.
