Alfonso Thomas appointed fast bowling coach for Delhi Daredevils | IPL 2015

Delhi Daredevils on Thursday announced that former South African pace bowler Alfonso Thomas has joined the squad to work with the fast bowlers during the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 season.  ( Also See:  Delhi Daredevils‬ (DD) Squad IPL 8 - 2015 ) Thomas, considered to be one of the the world’s best T20 bowlers, will work with the pace bowlers in the Delhi Daredevils squad on a short-term contract. During his time, Thomas will share his vast experience of bowling in the T20 format across the world. JP Duminy captain for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2015

JP Duminy, is an experienced cricketer who made his debut in international cricket in 2004. The Royal Challengers Bangalore overcame the Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets in what eventually turned out to be an easy run chase for the Garden City franchise. Thanks to a masterful big-hitting display from Yuvraj Singh and skipper Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers achieved the 146-run target with 3.2 overs to spare. Delhi Daredevils captain Kevin Pietersen will miss the side’s opening game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday. Pietersen is believed to have injured his finger during a practice drill and will be forced to watch the game from the sidelines. “He did not play in the practice match and he won’t be considered for tomorrow’s game. Dinesh Karthik will captain the side,” Delhi Daredevils’ assistant coach, Eric Simmons, confirmed. Kevin Pietersen will captain the all new look Delhi Daredevils during the seventh edition of the Pepsi Indian Premier League. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik would be the vice-captain. Pietersen, the 33-year-old, has been a prolific scorer in all forms of the game. The former England skipper has been exceptionally sensational in the T20s and was named the ‘Man of the Tournament’ in the 2010 World T20 Championship for helping England bag its maiden World T20 crown with his swashbuckling batting. Pietersen joined Delhi Daredevils in 2012 and made an impact with his 8 match outing amassing 305 runs with an average of 61 including a match winning ton against earstwhile Deccan Chargers to help the team top the league standings. Kevin Pietersen will miss IPL 6

England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the last test against New Zealand because of a right knee injury, and will miss the upcoming Indian Premier League. The England and Wales Cricket Board said on Wednesday that Pietersen felt pain in his knee before a four-day match earlier this month, and that a recent scan showed "bone bruising and possible cartilage damage to the knee cap." The ECB says Pietersen will return to England for further treatment and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks — ruling him out of the lucrative IPL. The last test between England and New Zealand starts on Friday.
