The Chennai Super Kings added the Champions League T20 2014 to their trophy cabinet after they defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in the final of the Oppo CLT20 2014. In front of a boisterous crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, MS Dhoni’s side – powered by Suresh Raina’s dazzling century – made light work of their chase of the 181-run target set by the IPL champions, romping home in 18.3 overs. Skipper MS Dhoni sealed the deal for his team in his signature style, hitting Pat Cummins for a six to take his team over the finish line. (Also Read:  QUICK STATS: FINAL - KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ) After CSK lost opener Dwayne Smith in the very first over of the chase, Raina began in cheeky fashion as he got off the mark with a French cut. But there was no stopping the left-hander thereafter; the 27-year old was in his elements, picking the length quickly, was lightning quick on his feet, had clarity of thought when he attempted to go ov...

Neither team was ready to concede an inch in the first half, but CSK forced their way to a competitive 182 for 7 and then imposed themselves all over their opponents, bundling them out for 117.  (Also Read:  QUICK STATS: SF2 - KINGS XI PUNJAB V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ) If Kings XI Punjab were found wanting on the field, CSK pouched everything that came their way, and that played a huge role in them decimating their opponents. Brendon McCullum pulled off a stunner to send back opener Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni took a tumbling catch down the leg side to dismiss Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis took a good catch running backwards to see the back of Manan Vohra and McCullum clung on to a sharp chance of George Bailey at short cover. PERTH SCORCHERS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS - CLT20 2014 | PER vs CSK

The Chennai Super Kings took one step closer to progressing to the semi-finals of the Oppo CLT20 2014 after they defeated the Perth Scorchers by 13 runs in their final group stage match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite starting poorly, CSK recovered through a rearguard partnership between skipper MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to set a competitive target, and then bowled and fielded with a high degree of intensity to restrict the Scorchers to 142 for 7.  (Also Read:  QUICK STATS: M15 - PERTH SCORCHERS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ) Earlier in the evening, a stunning rescue-from-the-dumps kind of an association between Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni powered the Chennai Super Kings, who were put in to bat, to a respectable 155. On a sticky surface where the spinners got plenty of purchase, where the ball kept low many a times and didn’t offer the batsmen too much pace, CSK – courtesy some poor shot selection - found themselves in a miserable situation at 82 for 5 head...

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS V LAHORE LIONS - CLT20 2014 | CSK vs LIO

Image
Heavy showers, which made their appearance a few minutes before the captains of Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions were scheduled to walk out for the toss, forced the much-awaited contest to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. The on-field umpires - Vineet Kulkarni and Nandan - inspected conditions after the rains had eased - nearly 90 minutes after it had started, but decided that the downpour had rendered the playing surface unusable and there wasn't enough time to get the ground ready within the stipulated hours of play (even considering the permitted 30 minutes extra time). The match was eventually called off, without a ball being bowled, around 9 p.m. local time. The unexpected result adds a twist to the standings. Chennai Super Kings are at six points from three outings - with a match against Perth Scorchers remaining, while Lahore Lions open their account with two points from this match and find themselves at fourth place in the standings, with two matches remain...

DOLPHINS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS - CLT20 2014 | DOL vs CSK

Image
It was nothing short of a massacre at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Chennai Super Kings rewrote the history books by posting 242 – the highest total in the Champions League T20 – and then restricted their opponents Dolphins to 188 to register a resounding 54-run victory in the Oppo CLT20 2014.    ( Also Read:  QUICK STATS: M8 - DOLPHINS V CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ) CSK put the Dolphins bowling attack to the sword as Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja lit up the evening skies with some of the cleanest hitting. Dwayne Smith deposited the fourth ball of the match into the stands but departed next ball when he holed out to the man at long-off, leaving the stage to McCullum and Raina.  McCullum, who gave the Indian Premier League a rousing launch with his spectacular 158 at this very venue six years ago, appeared to be in similar punishing mood as he hit five boundaries and three sixes in his 29-ball 49. Raina, who matched his Kiwi partner str...
