No plans to retire now. I will comeback: Virender Sehwag

Virender-Sehwag
Just minutes after being dropped from the Indian squad for the remaining two Tests against Australia, Virender Sehwag says that he is not contemplating retiring from the game and vows to make a comeback.

Sehwag was axed in the wake of his poor form in the ongoing series against Australia. Post his 117 against England in the first innings of the victorius first Test in November, he has scored only 163 runs in 9 innings in an abysmal average of 18.11.

However, like a true sportsman, he has vowed to never give up and make a return to the top league and this axing is not the end of his Test career.

"I have no plans to retire now. I will try to make a comeback," Sehwag told NDTV in an exclusive statement on Thursday.

Sehwag's axing from the team means that left-handed Shikhar Dhawan, will most likely, make a Test debut in the third Test at Mohali, starting  March 14.
A look at Virender Sehwag's Test stats over the last two years will give an idea why his dropping was almost inevitable.

Sehwag has managed just one hundred in Test cricket in the last two years. He averages a poor 36 at home in this period, almost 15 less than his career average of almost 50.

Viru in his last 9 innings, has failed to score a fifty. His stats abroad are even worse, averaging a poor 20 in 6 Tests played in the last two years.
