Mumbai vs Baroda in Pune: Mumbai beat Baroda by 17 runs to kick off their campaign on a winning note. After getting bowled out for 236, they restricted Baroda to 219 for nine. Shoaib Shaikh who was promoted up the order scored a half-century, while Wasim Jaffer and Iqbal Abdulla made 42 and 43 runs respectively. Abdulla and Ankeet Chavan then claimed three wickets each, while skipper Ajit Agarkar took two and Javed Khan chipped in with one.
