Statistical highlights of the 2nd ODI between India and England, Kochi, Jan 15, 2013:

Thanks to a brilliant all-round performance from Ravindra Jadeja, India drew level (1-1) in the five-match series against England. The Saurashtra all-rounder initially scored a 37-ball 61* to help the home team to 285/5, and then, he returned a superlative performance with the ball as well by bagging two key England wickets. Thanks to his exploits, Jadeja was adjudged Man of the Match – his fifth such award. Out of these five awards, three have come against England.

Today’s half-century also happened to be the first such score by Jadeja in a winning cause. Here are these and many more interesting stats highlights from today’s game:

- Kochi’s Nehru Stadium was hosting its seventh ODI – first since October 2007.

- This was also the first day-night ODI at this ground.  It thus became the 19^th Indian ground to host a day-night ODI.

- Ravindra Jadeja (61*) made his sixth ODI fifty. This was, however, the first time his fifty came in a winning cause for India.

- Raina, Dhoni and Jadeja scored 188 runs during Indian innings – the highest combined contribution by Nos.5, 6 and 7 in an innings against England. Interestingly, the previous record was also held by India. At Indore in 2009 Yuvraj (118), Dhoni (15) and Yusuf Pathan (50*) had contributed 183 runs.

- India scored 108 runs in their last 10 overs and 68 in the last five.

- Alastair Cook, while on 6, completed his 1500 runs as captain in ODIs. He became the third England captain after Andrew Strauss (2367) and Nasser Hussain (1598) to do so.

- Cook has now aggregated 394 runs as captain against India – most by any England captain against India. He was earlier at level with Nasser Hussain with 377 runs.

- Kevin Pietersen, while on 3, completed 1000 runs against India in ODIs. He became the first England player to accomplish this feat.

- Pietersen, while on 21, completed 1000 ODI runs in India. He became the first England batsman and eighth foreign batsman to aggregate 1000 runs on Indian soil.

- Jadeja against England: Matches - 10, Runs - 220, Batting Average - 44.00, Wickets - 17, Bowling Average - 23.47.Against all others: Matches - 52, Runs - 748, Batting Average - 26.71, Wickets - 46, Bowl Average - 41.50

- Since 2008, India have beaten England in 11 out of 13 ODIs played on Indian soil. On five occasions, the winning margin has been more than 50 runs, on four occasions India won by five wickets or more. Only on two occasions the margin has been less than 20 runs.

- India’s 127-run win is their second biggest against England.
