# Graeme Swann (56 off 91 balls) has recorded his fifth fifty in Test cricket - his first against India.

# Swann's aforesaid innings is the highest individual innings by England's number nine batsman against India in India, bettering John Lever's 53 in the 1976-77 Delhi Test.

# Joe Root has batted splendidly to score 73 on his Test debut.  His magnificent innings is the sixth highest by an England batsman on his Test debut against India.  He faced 229 balls - the sixth highest by an England player in his debut innings in Tests.

# Piyush Chawla (4/69) has recorded his best bowling performance in Tests - his first instance of four wickets in an innings.

# Matt Prior (57 off 142 balls) has posted his fifth fifty against India - his 24th in Test Cricket.

# Sachin Tendulkar is averaging 18.66 - his worst batting average in a four-Test series - 112 runs in six innings.

# Matt Prior has aggregated 777 runs at an average of 38.85 in 15 Tests - his best performance in terms of run-aggregate in a calendar year.

# Prior and Root have registered a partnership of 103 - England's 14th century partnership for the sixth wicket against India. The said stand is the first century partnership for England not involving Alastair Cook in the current rubber.

# Ishant Sharma (3/49) has registered his best bowling figures in five Tests in 2012.  He has captured three wickets in an innings for the first time in eleven Tests.

# Virender Sehwag has posted his 16th duck in Tests - his seventh against England.  His tally of 16 ducks is the most by a recognised batsman for India in Tests.

# Gautam Gambhir became the 12th Indian batsman to completed 4,000 runs in Tests - 4021 at an average of 44.18 in 54 Tests.

# Pragyan Ojha could not take a single wicket for the first time despite bowling 35 overs in an innings.

# Anderson has captured 47 wickets at an average of 28.91 in 14 Tests - the second highest by an England bowler in 2012, behind Graeme Swann's 57 at 29.80 in 14 Tests.

# James Anderson has taken Sachin Tendulkar's wicket on nine occasions in 14 Tests - the most times a bowler has claimed his wicket.  Muttiah Muralitharan has captured Sachin's wicket eight times. Anderson's tally of nine dismissals is the most he has taken a batsman's wicket.

# Allan Border and Tendulkar have been bowled 53 times in Tests - the second highest in Tests, next only to Rahul Dravid's 55.
